Jed Lawrence grew up on a cattle farm in Nancy, Kentucky, and began riding horses early on. Growing up around cattle, the cow horse events were appealing, though Jed also competed in pleasure and team roping during his teens.  In his early 20s, Jed began training and competing in Reined Cow Horse and Reining events.

In 2007, he won the U.S. Eastern Region in the Limited Open Reined Cowhorse (Hackamore) Division and finished 13th at the NRCHA World Show in Stephenville, Texas in 2008. Three months prior to showing in Stephenville, Jed was signed on as an assistant trainer at Shawn Flarida Reining Horses in Springfield, Ohio, where he continued honing his training skills and polishing his show ring ways.

While at Shawn’s, Jed built up an impressive resume, from starting and riding the 2009's NRHA Futurity winner “Gunnatrashya” as a 2 year-old, to winning all 4 divisions of the Bill Horn Derby in 2009 on KR Offtoceethewizard (and beating “the boss” marking a 222!) Jed’s successes weren't limited to time in the saddle, as he helped many Non Pros achieve their goals.  He has coached Non Pro clients to many wins at some of the industry's most prominent futurities and derbies, multiple Top 5 and 10 finishes at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Top 10 finishes at the NRHA Futurity and Derby, NRHA Affiliate Championship Titles, ARHA World Champions, ARHA Horse of the Year, as well as 2008 NRHA Reserve Rookie of the Year.

Jed intends to continue to develop his career based on a strong work ethic and driving desire to always improve.
